Ideas · Sponsorship · Consulting

Put your name on
the next build.

Send an idea for free and it goes in the queue. Fund one that’s already there, back the shop for the year, build something with me, or hire the same setup that runs this site. Every project is published in full and stays free for the reader — sponsorship is what pays for that.

Ideas to build

Free, and no strings. Tell me what you want to see built and it goes in the queue. Attach a sponsorship and it gets scheduled instead of queued.

What I'll take on, what I won't, and the terms — read before you send

Laser, AI, software, hardware, or something nobody has asked for yet: send it. There is no category I rule out on taste. There are a few I rule out flatly, and no fee changes any of them:

  • Anything involving CSAM or the sexualisation of minors. This is reported, not declined.
  • Weapons, weapon components, or devices whose purpose is to injure a person.
  • Content that promotes hate or violence against people or a group.
  • Harassment, stalking, doxxing, or covert surveillance of individuals.
  • Malware, credential theft, fraud, or defeating a safety or licensing system.
  • Counterfeit goods, forged documents, or trademark and copyright infringement.
  • Anything that needs me to break the law, hide a sponsorship, or misrepresent a review.

If you are unsure whether an idea sits near one of these lines, send it anyway and ask. I would rather have the conversation than guess.

Terms — payment, acceptance and outcomes

  • You pay nothing unless I accept. Sending an idea, a sponsorship offer or an enquiry costs nothing and creates no obligation on either side. No invoice is raised and no payment is taken until I have accepted the project in writing and we have agreed the scope.
  • I choose the projects. I reserve the right to accept, decline, pause, reschedule or abandon any project at my sole discretion, for any reason or none, including after acceptance. Declining is not a judgement of you or your product. A higher sponsorship improves scheduling, not the odds of acceptance.
  • No guarantee it works out. These are experiments in a home shop. Materials fail, machines fail, models fail, and some ideas simply are not achievable with the tools, time, budget or physics available. A project may end up unfinished, published as a failure, or not published at all — the write-up of what went wrong is often the useful part.
  • No guarantee of ratings, reach or results. No score, verdict, ranking, traffic figure, placement position, publication date, search result or commercial outcome is promised, implied or negotiable. Nothing here is a marketing service.
  • If I stop, the money stops. If I abandon an accepted project before delivery, unspent sponsorship is returned pro rata; committed materials and machine time already spent are not. Fees are never refundable on the basis of the verdict, score or reception of finished work.
  • Personalised projects stay private. If a build carries personal details — names, addresses, dates, faces, messages, anything identifying — that information is scrubbed from every photo, file and write-up before anything is published or uploaded. The technique gets shared; the person does not.
  • Published work stays free and stays mine. Builds, files and settings are published free for readers under my usual terms, and editorial control — words, images, verdict and timing — remains entirely mine. Sponsorship is disclosed on the post.

Everything above is offered as-is, with no warranty of any kind, and sits alongside the site-wide disclaimer in the footer. Agreed scope in writing takes precedence over this page.

Attach a sponsorship? (optional)

Sponsorship is optional and changes nothing about whether the idea is read. All figures are USD and are floors, not quotes — the exact number is confirmed in writing before anything is invoiced.
